LF System – Dancing Shoes (Take me Higher)

Another big sample replay for LF System here, essentially building up the entire track apart from the drums! It’s a replay of Plaza – (Got My) Dancing Shoes, and we particularly enjoyed recording the beautiful vocals by Kelly Barnes, the lush string interlude and the fat as funk Prophet bassline!

Campbell – Beat Goes On (Rhythm To The Brain)

We are increasingly having to replay tracks on stupidly fast turnarounds as bootleg mixes blow up on TikTok and have to be converted rapidly to legal, released versions of the track in a race to market with competing knock-off versions.

This track by Campbell contained multiple layers of sample history, as he had sampled All Seeing I, who were themselves sampling Buddy Rich (with Kathy Rich) and they were covering a Sonny and Cher song!

This sample replay was turned around by the Replay Heaven team in under a week, while multiple labels were bidding to release the track (and / or make their own competing versions) in the background. All very dramatic.

LF System – Afraid To Feel

So this massive track has become the longest running UK dance number 1 in history! The bulk of the track you hear is Replay Heaven’s sample replay of Silk’s “I Can’t Stop (Turning you on)”. Our version is performed by Hal Ritson, Richard Adlam, Rob Harris and Graeme Blevins with stunning lead vocals from Louise Claire Marshall.

The authentic 70s vibe is got by recording everything on period correct vintage equipment – nothing on the record manufactured after the 70s! However at mixdown the artist had full access to the multitrack stems from Replay Heaven so they were able to balance the elements better for a modern dance track than would have been possible using the original sample master.

Kurupt FM, Jaykae, MIST – Dreaming

One of the great things about working at Replay Heaven is the opportunities it affords to work with the greatest legends in the industry, and also the kings of the underground. This track ticks both boxes.

We also did the sample replay for this:

Joel Corry & Jax Jones featuring Charli XCX & Saweetie – Out Out

This all start summer banger is based around Replay Heaven’s replaying of the iconic synth riff from Stromae’s “Alors On Danse”.

Mahalia – Whenever You’re Ready

Mahalia’s Whenever You’re Ready is based around a Replay Heaven sample replay of Get It On Tonight by Montell Jordan, which in turn samples Claudja Barry – Love For The Sake Of Love.

Rain Radio & DJ Craig Gorman – Talk About

This inspired remix of Nelly Furtado’s Big Hoops (The Bigger The Better) features replayed vocals by the Replay Heaven and after a slow start is building into a SMASH!

Goodboys – Bongo Cha Cha Cha

Full big band? Singing in Italian (with a Spanish twist?)? All part of a days work at Replay Heaven!

Tom Everett – Patti

Ahaaa! Back to the good old days when you can have a hit with a Replay Heaven replay of an entire disco track with your own drums added! 🙂

No seriously its a great re-edit though!

Enny – Peng Black Girls

Here’s one of our favourite projects we’ve worked on recently – not one – but 2 versions of Enny’s amazing “Peng Black Girls” one using an Angie Stone sample and one using a Jeff Lorber sample, both replayed by Replay Heaven:

Regard – Ride It

One of the biggest tracks in the world in 2019 – and those vocals? Replayed by Replay Heaven…

Pusha T – Coming Home ft. Ms. Lauryn Hill

One of many replays we have done for the great Pusha T, now with a Lauryn Hill feature too!

Smoke DZA – Santos Party House feat. Wiz Khalifa, Big K.R.I.T., Curren$y, Girl Talk

A wonderful who’s who of rap here, all running over a cool groove of a Michael Wycoff sample replayed by Replay Heaven…

Rimmel ‘Obsession’ advert

Replay Heaven developed this cover of Animotion Obsession for Rimmel’s TV campaign.

The Chemical Brothers – We’ve Got To Try

Replay Heaven have worked extensively with The Chemical Brothers on their 2019 album No Geography but nowhere to more exciting effect than on the track We’ve Got To Try. I think this is a great example of the creative opportunities offered by using a replay rather than the original sample, as Tom was able to solo elements like the vocals and strings in the mix as we provided everything as stems. We also were able to sing new original material that wasn’t in the sample, but matches up with the sample sonically.

Kanye West – Ghost Town

Replay Heaven has worked on several Kanye West tracks over the years, but you never know if they are going to make it to release as it is quite common for Kanye to totally overhaul an album, even very close to release date, swapping round which tracks make it onto the album. However for 2018’s “Ye”, an album which itself was made in a flurry of activity very near to release, the Replay Heaven team of Hal Ritson, Richard Adlam and guitarist Rob Harris, on preparing instrumental parts for the track “Ghost Town”. Though the track is based on a sample (Vanilla Fudge’s version of “Take me for a little while”) by getting the sample replay team to super accurately recreate all the instrumental parts of the sample, with authentic vintage equipment, Kanye was able to be much more free creatively than by just using the sample alone. For example Adlam’s drumming is able to continue through the track sounding the same as the sample while new original elements are layered in the music in the place of the rest of the sample, or having Hal Ritson’s hammond playing behind the lead vocals, without the original Vanilla Fudge vocal remaining.

Kryder – MTV (Money For Nothing)

On the down side this might be the worst promo video I’ve ever seen (I have a musician’s over sensitivity to models miming instruments badly!). On plus side Kryder makes a banging club track and we did a good job of recreating the Dire Straits elements super accurately. Lot’s of great attention to detail on the research here as usual from using the exact same microphones and preamps used for the ‘knopfler’ and ‘sting’ voices, to downloading the correct DX1 presets, and of course capturing the unmistakable and unique guitar sound on this track.

Pretty Young Thing

Replay Heaven provided the sample replay for this Michael Jackson rework of P.Y.T (Pretty Young Thing) by John Gibbons

Ferdinand Weber, Fabich & Jetique – Finally

A house classic beautifully re-imagined here, with vocals from Replay Heaven.

High Contrast – Questions

We’ve done loads of work on the forthcoming excellent High Contrast album. We recreated the chorus vocal and 80s instrument elements for this new one.
