Replay Heaven have been working for Pharrell on various of his production side projects over the past few years, and one of the most long running and interesting ones has finally come out – the long awaited Clipse album, with Pusha T, who is also a longstanding client of ours.
The most attention has probably been for So Be It, which features a really unusual sample replay to work on with Arabic strings and vocals, originally from “Maza Akool”. This certainly showcases our ability to work outside of standard western music style in our sample replays. As well as using performers who can work with language and microtonal aspects of this kind of music its important to get the sonics right in the distortions and degradations in the audio to give the right regional and historic character.
Also fun to work on was the more prog rock stylings in Chains & Whips.
